Hair
extensions are fairly common. Women of all ethnicities and social
classes wear them, from ordinary people to those celebrities
strutting about in the red carpet. While they’re pretty
commonplace, hair extensions have garnered rather mixed reactions;
with several misconceptions venturing into the fray.
They’re
painful
The short
answer to this is no, they’re absolutely not. Beauty, at times,
requires one to endure discomfort (take high heels, for instance),
but not hair extensions. If prepared and applied properly, hair
extensions are perfectly harmless; though there would be several
exceptions like individuals with sensitive skin.
You
don’t have to care for them
Hair
extensions are fake, so you don’t have to care for them, right?
Wrong again. Choosing to not care for extensions can actually cost
more money, especially with virgin hair, which are actual human hair.
Keeping moisture is of utmost importance because shampoos are out of
the question; their ingredients can be too harsh.
They
limit lifestyle
If you’re
a pretty active person, you can still perform your light to
heavy-duty workouts if you got hair extensions—no questions asked.
Virgin hair extensions are intended to look and feel like natural
hair, and caring for them is almost as easy.
They
damage natural hair
In a
worst-case scenario (such as when extensions are applied by
non-pros), extensions may damage natural hair because inexperienced
applicators use glue or some other adhesive. Professional applicators
never use such substances.
