Taking Care of Your Virgin Hair Extensions

Women who have been wearing curly hair extensions for some time know that their new hair isn’t easy to maintain. Since curly hair behaves differently from straight hair, there are a few things to consider in taking care of it, primarily to keep it looking lustrous and healthy.

Safe to Wash

Treat your hair extensions like your real hair. Wash with shampoo regularly so as to keep your extensions clean and free of product buildup. This will help maintain the curls of your extensions. Also, when you wash your hair, only do it in the shower so that the water hits your head in a downward motion as opposed to washing in the sink.

Conditioner

Curly hair can get really frizzy and dry in humid weather so before you head out, put on anti-frizz products with a cream base to enhance your curls. After you rinsed out the shampoo, apply conditioner to your hair to make it soft and shiny, and then rinse thoroughly.

Proper Drying

Most of the time, when women step out of the shower, they dry their hair using a towel. This won’t work well with your curls as it can cause hair extensions to frizz out and look dry. Instead of wrapping your hair in a towel, let nature do its work and just allow your hair to air dry. This will help lock in the moisture and keep your hair tangle-free.
